IGNOU Grade Card 2026: How to Check, What “Not Completed” Means & How to Fix It

The IGNOU grade card is the official document that shows your subject-wise marks, assignment marks, and the final status of each course you appeared for. After every Term End Examination (TEE), IGNOU updates grade cards on the student portal — but many students find confusing status messages like “Not Completed”, “Result Awaited”, or blank entries where their marks should be.

This post explains exactly what each status means, how to check your grade card, and what steps to take when something is wrong.

What Is the IGNOU Grade Card

The grade card is not a physical document sent to you — it is available online through the IGNOU student portal. It shows:

  • Your enrolment number and programme
  • Course code and course name for each subject
  • Assignment marks (out of 100, weighted to 30% of final score)
  • TEE marks (out of 100, weighted to 70% of final score)
  • Final grade (A, B, C, D, or E) and status for each course

The grade card is updated after each TEE cycle — June TEE results come in around August–September, and December TEE results come in around February–March.

How to Check Your IGNOU Grade Card 2026

Step 1: Go to ignou.ac.in

Step 2: Click on Student Zone → Grade Card

Step 3: Enter your 9-digit enrolment number and select your programme code

Step 4: Your grade card will display all courses with their current status

You can also check directly at: gradecard.ignou.ac.in

Save or download your grade card as a PDF once marks are updated. This is your official academic record.

Understanding Every Status on Your Grade Card

This is the most confusing part for IGNOU students. Here is what each status actually means:

“Not Completed” (NC)

This is the most common confusion. “Not Completed” does not always mean you failed. It means one or more of the following:

  • Your assignment was not submitted before the deadline
  • Your assignment was submitted but not yet evaluated or recorded
  • You appeared for the TEE but your answer sheet has not been evaluated yet
  • You did not appear for the TEE for that course

What to do: First check your assignment status separately at ignou.ac.in → Student Zone → Assignment Status. If assignments are showing as submitted and evaluated, the issue is with TEE marks — contact your regional centre with your hall ticket as proof of appearing.

“Result Awaited” (RA)

Your TEE answer sheet is under evaluation. This is a temporary status — it will update once IGNOU completes the evaluation process. No action needed unless it persists for more than 3–4 months after the TEE.

“Incomplete” (I)

You have submitted assignments but did not appear for the TEE for that course. You need to appear for the TEE in the next available cycle to complete the course.

Grade Letters (A, B, C, D, E)

  • A: 80% and above — Excellent
  • B: 60–79% — Very Good
  • C: 50–59% — Good
  • D: 40–49% — Satisfactory (Pass)
  • E: Below 40% — Unsatisfactory (Fail)

A “D” grade means you passed — do not confuse it with a failing grade. The minimum pass requirement at IGNOU is 40% in TEE and 40% in assignments separately.

Why “Not Completed” Appears Even After You Appeared for the Exam

Several technical and administrative reasons can cause this:

Assignment not linked to your record: If you submitted assignments but your study centre did not upload them correctly to the system, your assignments may not show as evaluated even though you submitted them physically. Always keep your submission receipt.

Answer sheet not scanned: IGNOU scans and evaluates TEE answer sheets centrally. Occasionally, an answer sheet gets misplaced or not processed. This is rare but happens.

Mismatch in enrolment number or course code: If you wrote your enrolment number incorrectly on your answer sheet or assignment, your marks cannot be linked to your record.

Late TEE appearance: If you appeared for the TEE after the main evaluation cycle closed, your results may come in a later update.

How to Fix “Not Completed” Status

Step 1 — Check assignment status first Go to ignou.ac.in → Student Zone → Assignment Status. Verify that your assignments for that course show as submitted and evaluated. If they do not show, contact your study centre with your submission receipt.

Step 2 — Verify you appeared for the TEE Check your hall ticket and confirm you appeared for that specific course’s exam. If you did appear, note the date, session, and exam centre.

Step 3 — File a Grade Card Grievance IGNOU has an official grievance system for grade card issues at ignou.ac.in → Student Zone → Grievance. Submit your complaint with:

  • Your enrolment number
  • Programme and course code
  • The specific issue (NC status despite appearing for TEE)
  • Attach your hall ticket as proof

Step 4 — Contact your Regional Centre For J&K students:

  • Srinagar Regional Centre: University of Kashmir Campus, Naseem Bagh, Srinagar — 190006
  • Jammu Regional Centre: SIDCO Electronic Complex, Rangreth, Jammu — 180006

Bring your hall ticket, assignment submission receipt, and enrolment confirmation when visiting.

Step 5 — Apply for Re-evaluation if needed If your marks appear but seem incorrect or significantly lower than expected, you can apply for re-evaluation of your TEE answer sheet. The re-evaluation fee is ₹750 per course. Apply within 45 days of the result declaration at ignou.ac.in.

IGNOU TEE 2026 — Important Dates

Examination Month Grade Card Expected
June TEE 2026 June 2026 August–September 2026
December TEE 2026 December 2026 February–March 2027

Hall tickets for the June 2026 TEE are available at ignou.ac.in → Student Zone → Hall Ticket. Download using your enrolment number.

Getting Your IGNOU Degree and Provisional Certificate

Once all courses in your programme show passing grades on your grade card, you are eligible to apply for your degree. IGNOU does not automatically send degrees — you must apply.

For provisional certificate: Apply at ignou.ac.in → Student Zone → Exam Related Services → Provisional Certificate. Fee: ₹300.

For original degree: Apply for convocation through the IGNOU portal when convocation is announced. Convocation certificates are posted to your registered address.

For migration certificate: Required when applying to other universities after IGNOU. Apply at your regional centre with your grade card and enrolment details.
